Isaiah 43:20-21 -
"...I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, my chosen. This people have I formed for Myself; they shall show forth My praise."
Jeshimon is a name referring to the Sinai desert. It is usually translated as a "waste" or a "desert." It is pictured as a bare, salty land without vegetation.
What is a desert? It is generally defined as an arid, barren land. Land that is arid is excessively dry; it lacks interest and life. That which is barren is fruitless, unresponsive, lacking, dull, and bare.
Deuteronomy 32:10 says of God and Israel - "He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of the eye."
What about you? Where are you spiritually?
Does Psalm 36:8 depict your walk with the Lord - "They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house..." Are you "abundantly satisfied" with the "fatness" of God's blessings?
Or are you like David, while in the wilderness of Judah, crying out from the depths of your heart -
Psalm 63:1 - "O God, Thou art my God...my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is."
Perhaps in your walk with the Lord at this time, as Deuteronomy 32:10 says, God would find you in "a desert land...in the waste howling wilderness..." as He found Israel. Perhaps this is the place right now where He is leading you, instructing you, and keeping you as the "apple of his eye." This is your Jeshimon - your desert experience. All around you is barrenness, lack, and lifelessness.
You may be a Pastor or a minister whose ministry is at a standstill.
You may be an Evangelist who through discouragement lost your burden for the lost.
You may be a Godly Christian who is suffering physical pain or loneliness and rejection for Jesus' Name's sake.
You may be a Saint of God who suffers much oppression due to an unsaved spouse, children, grandchildren, or parents.
You may be facing a long-term illness or a continuous financial burden and struggle.
Questions plague and torment your mind. They steal your peace and rob your joy. "Why, God?" How did I ever end up in this place? How could I follow the right and end up in this wrong place? How did I go from the abundant riches of Your house to this bare, bleak, and dry wilderness - Jeshimon?
Only God has all the answers. But no matter what place we find ourselves - even in Jeshimon - the Scriptures always offer consolation and hope. This is what this message is all about.
God promises to all those who are in Jeshimon -
Isaiah 43:19 - "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
Did you catch what the Lord said here? He promised to all who are in Jeshimon - the arid desert - that He would "make a way" right there in the wilderness and give you "rivers in the desert"! Hallelujah! Praise His Holy Name!
Contrary to what the devil may tell you - the desert place is not a place where God has abandoned you. It is a place where God is setting you up for a miracle!
Read the following Scriptures and note where God chooses to pour out His blessings -
Isaiah 44:3 - "For I will pour...floods upon the dry ground..."
Isaiah 43:20 - "...I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert..."
Isaiah 41:18 - "I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water."
Throughout the Scriptures, "floods," "waters," "rivers," "fountains," and "springs" all denote plenteous divine blessings. The "high places" in Isaiah 41:18 refer to the hills in a dry and lonely desert. They were bare and destitute of trees and devoid of water. The "valleys" were generally sandy and wearisome. The desert as already mentioned was a waste and desolate place.
Perhaps you have looked over your life over the past few weeks, months, and years and counted it as a total waste. You may consider it as such; however, God sees it differently. He sees it as a set-up for Abundant Blessings! The drier the conditions, the more abundant will be His supply.
"Floods," "rivers," "streams," "showers," and "waters" denote the abundant influences of God's grace as well as that of the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 9:8 says - "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."
Psalm 72:6 speaks of the Holy Spirit - "He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth."
Titus 3:6 - The Scriptures also tell us about the Holy Spirit which God "shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior."
Isaiah 32:15 - "Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest."
Through the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit and His wonderful Grace, God desires to turn your wilderness into a fruitful field, and your fruitful field into a forest. He desires to give you "showers of blessing" -
Ezekiel 34:26 - "And I will make them and the places round about My hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing."
There are certain conditions that must be met before these blessings are poured out.
First of all, as already mentioned, there must be exceedingly dry conditions. If you are experiencing Jeshimon - the waste and desolate wilderness - you are a candidate for God's "abundant" blessings.
Secondly, you must believe that God will do what His Word says He will do -
Isaiah 43:20 - "...I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert..."
Isaiah 41:18 - "...I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water."
Psalm 107:35 - "He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings..."
Isaiah 35:7 - "And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water..."
Isaiah 35:6 - "...for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert."
Thirdly, you must thirst after God with all of your heart -
Isaiah 44:3 - "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty..."
Isaiah 55:1 - "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters..."
John 7:37 - "...If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink."
Revelation 21:6 - "...I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely."
Lastly, you must be totally separated and consecrated unto the Lord -
Isaiah 43:20 - "I...give drink to My people, My chosen."
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 - "Wherefore COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, AND TOUCH NOT THE UNCLEAN THING; AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU, AND WILL BE A FATHER UNTO YOU, AND YE SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, saith the Lord Almighty."
Psalm 4:3 - "But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for Himself..."
Titus 2:14 - "Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
1 Peter 2:9 - "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him Who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light."
Isaiah 43:20 - God is promising you today - "...I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert..."
The Scripture tells us -
Numbers 23:19 - "God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?"
Are you experiencing Jeshimon?
Are you presently traveling through a lonely, dry wilderness, spiritually speaking?
Then believe God's Word that He is able to turn your wasteland into a fruitful field.
Thirst after the outpouring of God's Holy Spirit and Grace upon your life with all that is within you.
Separate yourself unto God. Break away from anything and everything that is contrary to God's Word and Way.
Stand by and expect Showers of Blessing. For they will surely come.
God is setting you up for a Miracle!
Be encouraged today!
